OK... I know this week’s post was supposed to be about the main hero spaceship for the movie.  However, due to an unforeseen event (an all-night session of laser tag with Victoria and my fellow nerds) and circumstances beyond my control (a Netflix streaming marathon of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse), I was unable to shoot the test footage for the ship. 

I’ve discovered that the largeness of the ship -- combined with the smallness of our apartment -- makes filming it here almost impossible.  I learned my lesson from the Vega space station fiasco that I need to keep my models at least ten feet away from the green screen -- which leaves me precious little space left over to maneuver the camera in my living room.  Unfortunately, it will be at least another week and a half before I can secure the necessary location to film the ship.

So, I probably should have come up with some clever alternative topic to blog about, but... well... there was that whole laser tag / Dollhouse thing going on.  Not that I’ve been playing hooky.  Quite the contrary.  I’ve also been busy building one of the spaceships of the evil D’Trun empire.  Of course, it’s no where near finished yet... so, really nothing to blog about there... hmmm...

Alright then.  It appears blogging -- much like filmmaking -- doesn’t always go as expected and often doesn’t go according to schedule.  There.  We learned something today... and really... isn’t that what it’s all about.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I still have a couple of Dollhouse episodes left to watch.
